HWT

It's Wednesday again!

I promise I am still alive!

I have no excuses why I haven't posted regularly lately.... other than I feel like I haven't had a free moment to spare!

  • I've taken on more responsibilities at work since two of my co-worker's left almost two weeks ago.  Sometimes I feel the stress in my neck and back (massage for Christmas?!?!).  I'm very thankful to have a job, but I just wish a couple days could go smoothly so I could catch up a little bit!!
  • We've been busy getting stuff ready for Thanksgiving!  The "surprise" project that we started is taking a tad bit longer than we expected.  It's turning out MUCH better than we thought, just more time consuming.
  • Why is it every turkey I touch is 10lbs or 20 lbs?  Why can't I just find a 15-18 lb turkey?  Although, I guess I shouldn't be too worried because currently there is no room in the fridge, lol. Point taken... clean out fridge!
  • Yesterday I went for my yearly woman doctor visit and my doctor told me it was time I get a mammogram.  She explained that because of my mother's diagnosis at 35 it is recommended I begin screening at the age 10 years prior to her diagnosis.  I would be lying if I didn't say it scared the shit out of me, but I would rather be proactive about it.  Now I get to call the insurance company and beg them to cover it, at least a portion.
  • Can I say that I'm sad that I haven't seen the "Target woman" on ANY commercials?  I guess their lack or door busters doesn't have her excited this year.  She was my favorite.  In case you have no idea what I'm talking about.... check one out here.
  • I was excited to see this in the mail today!
Beagle and DIY Mag keeping me warm last night

Have a great Wednesday!

HWT

It's Wednesday and I wish it was Friday.

  • This week is the first week in 3 1/2 years that I have truly been stressed at work.  There have been changes which I was very hopeful about in the past two weeks, but I'm not sure how much longer my optimistic side can hold out because things aren't going smoothly.  The one part of hope I have is the hiring of one more person that starts this coming Monday.  I just hope I can hold out without having to take the issue to my boss, my positive attitude each day when I walk into work doesn't last as long each day...
  • It's cold people!  I know it's Fall and all, but my goodness I didn't get to fully appreciate the 60's-70's that Fall usually is around here.
  • The time change has royally messed with my sleeping schedule.  I can't get to sleep before 11pm and that messes with my morning schedule too.
  • I've been enjoying my Young House Love book that came in the mail Monday.  The book inspires me to get back on the DIY train.  It's so nice that the projects are not "set in stone" so you have to go out and buy this and that but instead use things that you have or other things.  John and Sherry did a great job of making cheap things look luxe!

HWT

It's not just half way through the work week, it's also Halloween!  I remember I used to come home from school on Halloween and count down till it was just starting to get dark and beg my parents to let me go ahead and go to a few of the neighbor's houses.  I fondly remember my dad driving my friend, Danielle, and I around to other neighborhoods because we would run to house to house.  Now, I'm the one that will be passing out the candy, keeping T and Slade out of the cookie dish, and hoping that the kids don't step on my fake pumpkins.  OMG.  I'm old.

But could I take a minute to vent?  Tuesday, it was pretty obvious that the odds were against me.

This all happened Tuesday:

  • Forgot my breakfast
  • As it rained on the way to work, I realized that my windshield wipers were way past the point of needing to be replaced.
  • Almost ran out of gas
  • The gas handle was broken, so I stood outside in the rain, wind, and cold to pump my gas (darn you modern technology fail)
  • Of the probably 15 lip products I own, zero were in my car, and my lips were chapped (real bad)
  • Target was out of their water (because of Sandy) so I had to get Deer Park! (crisis)
  • A coworker almost had a nervous breakdown
  • Because of coworker's "almost" nervous breakdown, I have to do additional work because coworker cannot handle it all
  • Go to WW early to make vet appointment, there is a closed sign on the door saying that they will be back in 25 minutes.
  • I go to the grocery store while WW is closed to kill time and my bag of brussels sprouts breaks and goes everywhere, not once, but twice.
  • The guy at the meat counter didn't know how to cut deli meat
  • 5 packages of ground turkey fall on me
  • There was no pumpkin spice cream cheese to be found
  • I go back to WW and they are still closed, I wait in the car 25 additional minutes, nothing.
  • I have to call and cancel the vet appointment because I would have never made it on time. (Slade was devastated...)
  • Some idiot in a Toyota Highlander stopped at a green light.... luckily I have good breaks.
  • I call WW to find out what happened and how I can find out their "true" hours and to really see if I could get a week refunded after I wasted over an hour trying to have someone tell me my weight... and get nowhere.
  • T had to work late... at 10 when I went to bed he still wasn't home.
Yes, I realize that this is called LIFE and I need to get over it, but I just wish that things could go smoother some days.

PS.  While it wasn't the "official" WW scale, I lost 3.1 lbs... I probably lost about 2.6 counting clothes and all.

HWT

It's Wednesday.... which means we are half way there!

Here are a few random things...

  • The dogs like to hang out on the back deck, it's probably because they can see around better because the deck is higher than our yard.  This time of year they particularly love it.. they also pretend like they are playing Lion King... I'm waiting Slade to break out in song.
I think they heard an acorn fall...
They caught me, I felt like an intruder.
  • I found a code for The Look Bag last Friday and I purchased the bag and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised to see it arrive in the mail Monday afternoon.  I paid $9.71 for the bag and I was pleased with what came in the bag.
It comes in a hot pink bubble bag
The products are in are all held in with a pink mesh bag.  It was nice to see three full size products in the bag and I immediately knew the bag was worth more than I paid for it when I saw the products.  I'm not going to break it all down like I do a regular beauty subscription review but let's just say this bag was worth well over the $9.71 that I paid for it.  The pop beauty nail polish is $10, the Revitalash mascara retails for $24, and Pixi line and prime is $18... that's a $52 value for those three products!  I'm wondering if this is because it was the launch bag?
Pink mesh baggy with goodies
The goods
  • Last night was not the best night at WW.  I gained .6 lbs.  At first I was in disbelief because I had worked out every day last week.  Then I became so mad that I almost started crying in the middle of WW.  I sat down and probably had the look of death on my face... HOW?!  I did 6 cardio workouts and 2 strength training workouts could I GAIN?!  A fellow member could tell I was upset (surprise) and asked me if I had been doing this and that, and then she asked if my aunt was in town.  She told me that every time that her's is she gains at least a lb that week regardless of what she eats, drinks, or workouts.  I'm going to blame it on my aunt right now, but you best bet my butt was at the gym at 5:55 this morning and next week I just hope to lose.
Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

HWT

Happy Wednesday!  It's supposed to be ugly the next two days and then the skies should clear for the weekend!  I really like the sound of that, we hope to head to the farmer's market this weekend and maybe tackle a project or two (as long as it's before 3:30 Saturday so T can watch the NCSU game).

Here are a few things...
  • Our dogs love stuffed monkey toys, I suppose it is because there is so much to keep them entertained (legs, arms, tail and squeaker) and over the years we have had several monkey toys... I was going through their toy basket looking for "Halloween" toys and I found that they tend to be in rough shape!
Some monkey's fair better than others...
  • In our last house everything was lime green and red, it was like that since I had lived in my first apartment.  To be honest I would be okay without seeing red again in the house, lime green is alright, but I lived with it for almost 5 years.  We purchased a red trash can that we use for recycling several years ago and finally I decided it was going to be red no more!
Hello Lagoon

  • Lesson learned:  Don't mention that you found something really cool for your husband for his birthday.... because he will want to go ahead and order it.  I didn't have the heart to tell him no, so now we are left with where to put this guy.
The one spot we had in mind for it is actually impossible to hang it because the seller's nicely put this ridge in the back that is perfect for nail heads.  We hoped to put it in the area between the pantry and the entryway to the DR but there would be no way possible to slide it on the nails :(

So now we will probably rework the long wall of the kitchen into a gallery style wall and hang it on the left side of the entryway to the DR without it looking just "stuck" on the wall.
Contrary to how it looks, that is level, we checked!
*Notice our shadow in the background of the picture above?  He usually follows us around the house where ever we go.... he's even allowed to go check the mail with us and hang out while we unload the car (unfortunately Slade doesn't get these privileges).

HWT

It's Wednesday and I'm ready for Friday!!

Here to share a few random tid bits...

  • One of our dog's, Slade, typically doesn't move too far from the couch while we are at work.... but when he does move, this is what we come home to...
I guess the bed wasn't good enough... or the cushion?
  • Have a told you that a few weeks ago my alarm clock that I have had forever (literally I think I have had it since I was in high school) broke?!  It was pretty tragic at the time, but what was more tragic was that I couldn't find one with a green light on the clock and a red projection light.... only red and red.  I didn't think it was a big deal, until the first week I constantly threw a sock or shirt over the time of the clock.  Instead, I decided to do this...
A piece of scrapbook paper saved the day!
  • Our Christmas cards should be in today when I get home from work!!!  I'm excited to see them and hope they turned out just right, but, I have a problem.  My address book on my computer is MIA and this is a major problem.  I've been sweet talking T to see if he could find it/recover it/save the day... thus far he is too busy doing "stuff" on the iPad.  (lol)
  • I was worried about WW this week, because we had been on the road and went to a wedding and all that jazz.  I stepped on the scale fully prepared for a "zero" lb weight loss and somehow.... I lost 1.2 lbs!  I was shocked.  I was so shocked and proud that I plan to shock myself a little more and go workout tonight!
Have a great Wednesday!

HWT

It's Wednesday again!
I'm very excited for today because T doesn't have softball tonight and it feels like we have just been given a free night to catch up on things!  (It's the little things in life...really)

  • Last night at WW I weighed in, and only lost two measly lbs.... I would be happy with this, but I worked out 5 times last week (compared to two the previous week).  I suppose my body is just adjusting to eating less and therefore I will lose less.  I'm down 5.4 lbs in two weeks and I'm satisfied with that overall.  I want this to be a journey and not a "diet" so I just need to keep heading down the road I am on now.
  • Over the weekend I felt a little artsy and started on a project...

There at nine 3"x3" canvases that I picked up a few weeks ago and I painted a little something on each of them (no these will not be hung in the house all together in case you are wondering).  I'm not finished with this, but I thought I would share a sneak peak (you know - that I do actually do stuff occasionally).
  • Over the weekend T had to go into work so I made a list of things I wanted to do (gym, laundry, vacuum, and clean windows).  I had made a trip to Target to pick up "the best thing to clean windows with" (so I've heard) is the Windex window cleaner.  Apparently you just spray off your windows to get any debris off and then wipe them down.  Below is as far as I got... it was raining all Saturday.  It did make it inside the house where it awaits to be used!

Anybody used this product before?  Good? Bad?
Have a great Wednesday!

HWT

This week seems to be flying by - let me take that back - this MONTH has flown by in the blink of an eye.  I swear it felt like yesterday that I was in IOP laying on the beach... and that was the 1st day of the month.

Since I missed my "Our Weekend" post... this week I will be sharing everything that has happened since Friday, lol.

  • I have a reoccurring blister on the bottom of my foot near the edge of the "ball" of my foot that comes back but I never feel it rub/hurt as it's forming and I wouldn't know I even had it if I didn't scrub my feet with a pumice stone.  I'm guessing that it has to be from wearing my Rainbows all the time.... but I've been wearing them since I was in elementary school!  My other thought is the way I walk has changed?  IDK.  Weird.
  • Slade got smarter.  Our DR chairs don't push all the way in to the edge of the table so it is possible for the dogs to jump in the chairs (and potentially get on the table) which we do not want them to do.  For the past year and a half he hasn't messed with it.  Now, he now knows how to knock the pillows out from the chairs in the DR, move the chair, and get on the table.  I need a table pad ASAP.
  • Saturday I went out to dinner.... to an Italian restaurant downtown, 518 West, and I didn't have any bread OR pasta!  I'm still shocked.... but extremely proud of myself.  I had a salad with a roasted portobello mushroom added, I should mention that it was extremely tasty too!
  • While I was standing out on the deck with the dogs Saturday I noticed that there was a slight breeze (which made it the perfect fall day) but then I immediately noticed what else was happening.... the leaves have started to fall.  Saturday was the first "official" day of Fall and the leaves knew it too.  I'm not exactly looking forward to leaf control for the next two months, Particularly in the islands in the yard.
  • Before we scooted out the door Saturday we learned how to use the timer on the camera (and also learned there was only a 10 second timer) to make an attempt to take a photo of the fan for a Holiday card... after 6 attempts.... after getting scratched by dogs who thought you were playing.... and several failures due to; closed eyes, enormous looking arms, awkward position of feet looking broken, not smiling... this is the best one.  Fenway was probably scared wondering why T had a grip on him to stay put and Slade wasn't into either (I'm pretty sure he wanted to go lay on the deck in the sun).  Anyone want to come over and try to do a better job??  Any takers??  I'll make you dinner!!  (I'll even craft with your after too!)
Holiday Failure...
Saturday night - after showing Jessica around Raleigh - Tir Na Nog
Have a great Wednesday!  Tomorrow I will be sharing my thoughts, struggles, and outcome of my first week of WW.... stay tuned.

It's Wednesday!

We're half way to the Weekend!!

Here with my usual tid-bits about my week and rants...

  • Today is a new beginning for me.  It had been a long time coming, and I probably should have done this two or three years ago but I was too embarrassed to admit that I needed the help and structure in my life.  Last night I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting and joined.  At first (other than the weigh in portion) I felt like I was in an AA meeting (not that I have ever been, only from what I've seen in movies/shows).  I have to say that it's nice to go and hear other people, ideas, and ways they have been successful.   I'll share more on this to come... a day really isn't enough time to talk about it yet, lol.
  • I came home Monday night and went on a cleaning spree.  I literally came home cooked T dinner and then kicked T out of the house to go to softball.  I'm not sure if it was because I hadn't been alone in a good long while or if I just felt overwhelmed because we had been having company over for the past two weeks, but I literally cleaned the whole house in about three hours.
  • I've been religiously using foot creme's for the past few nights after noticing that my feet were extremely dried out and I noticed it was doing a great job on my heel's but a so-so job on the rest of my feet.  I went back and looked at the packaging again and realized... duh... it's supposed to be for your heels.  It does a great job at moisturizing and smoothing them out... I think I will stick with the Julep creme for the rest of my feet.
Heel Saver!!

  • I have been working on a few more Christmas crafts... I just need a few hours to sit down and finish them!  They involve corks, tiny grapevine wreaths, and fuzzy puff balls.
Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Is it Wednesday?  Monday? I can't really keep track right now.  Monday I thought it was Tuesday, Tuesday I thought it was Wednesday, and now that it is Wednesday I'm kinda bummed that it's ONLY Wednesday!  (I'm not trying to wish my life away, but goodness I need a break and some silence).

  • I have family in town today through Friday and I must admit I feel like I haven't sat down and breathed without the thought that I need to be doing something in about two weeks.  Between vacation, softball, family in town, work, and more family... I'm ready to pull the covers over my head.
  • I realize that I have already talked about Christmas quite a bit lately but I want y'all to know I don't skip holidays.... I purchased a Halloween flag.  Of course it has a beagle on it!

  • The past three days have been in the upper 70's and low 80's.... I cannot tell you how much I have been LOVING this weather.  It's nice to be able to walk outside without getting hot immediately!
Have a great Wednesday!

HWT

It's Wednesday and it's half way through the work week and I cannot be more excited about Wednesday this week because it's like it's Tuesday!!!

  • My in-laws are coming down this week... so of course I'm in "I have to do stuff in the house" mode.... which... makes for an irritated husband.... but luckily he has a softball game tonight so I can do as I please and act like a crazy person going from one task to the next while he is out of the house.  What can I say, I just get on these sprees!
  • Our stools arrived SUPER early for the table we purchased for the kitchen area last week...
According to Fedex, this was 68 lbs.
Bam... T was quick to put one together.
I was quick to decide that they will be painted after we get the wallpaper down and paint the walls.
  • I forgot to share our memorabilia from our South Carolina weekend.  SOMEONE kinda went a little OVERBOARD with the koozie purchases... but I swear we will have enough for when ANYONE in the neighborhood comes over! :)   I purchased one small signed gate print from a downtown Charleston art gallery for $10 to add to our gallery wall.
We came back to good Ol' Cary with 8 (yes, eight) koozies
Cheapest art purchase EVER!

  •  Yesterday was my birthday, T brought me cupcakes, wine and the sweetest card that I have ever received.  We also went to dinner at my favorite sushi place, Shaba Shabu, and stuffed our faces with some of the BEST sushi we have had in a good long while (of course, we haven't had sushi in a good long while now that we think about it).
Katie covered the office for me so I could get home early to be welcomed home by this!!!
After sushi... I was too stuffed to even eat one of these
One of our favorites... and one of our first dates.
Have a great Hump day!!!!!

Wednesday.... which means I am one day closer to the beach! (Where I hope it doesn't rain)

  • I can't help but have Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin'" because in the next few weeks my full time job is going to have two people leave and there is a possibility that I might be promoted.  I feel I embrace change pretty decently, but I can't help but find it a little nerve racking because there is so much uncertainty.  If the promotion does happen it isn't exactly greener on the other side... much more stress and responsibility.... and if I stay at the current position there will be that awkward stage that I have been through too many times already!
  • Speaking of Bob Dylan, it makes me think of painting and how I have several blank canvases sitting in the spare room (which you can functionally use now I should add!) that I really need to get on it already.... they have been there for months.  There are a few areas in the house that are crying for something on the wall (over top the small cabinet in the DR, the entire kitchen, and the SR).
  • We're supposed to be going to Charleston and the Isle of Palms over the weekend and yesterday downtown Charleston looked like this...

I'm now convinced that mother nature really has it out for me!  I mean, how many birthday parties were canceled when I was younger because of a hurricane?  This is the first year in FIVE years that I haven't had to spend my birthday weekend at a football game and this is what I have to look forward to?!  :(

PS.  Excuse the pity party.... the train is leaving and tomorrow I will be sharing my latest Christmas craft ideas!

HWT

Wednesday again and we're half way through the work week!

  • Lesson: Going to two concerts back to back nights is a thing of the past.  T and I were talking about how we used to could go and go and go in college and not feel worn out and now... just today... I feel like we are catching up on sleep and getting our energy back!  We definitely cannot go like we did in college.  Oh dear, we're getting old.
  • Confession:  I'm a magazine hoarder.... not to the gross extent on the show but I like to hold onto them for a few months in case I want to use something I read or look something up at a later date.  Often times I end up going through the stack months later and just tossing them because I am tired of dusting them!
  • We're both excited to be able to walk down to the Lazy Daze Art Festival downtown Cary this Saturday.  This past spring was our first time and there was a lot of great artists there but there was one problem, we both forgot to get cash out before we went so we pretty much just got our walking in that day.  This time, I'm going to make sure we have our cash this time!  Maybe we'll even get a Christmas present!
Have a great Wednesday!

HWT

This week I wish it was Friday already... it's been a busy one.
  • My Birchbox is MIA and Birchbox staff is too.  I've emailed and left a message with no response to either attempt to contact them.  According to shipping my box has been at the local post office for a week now.  Sigh... :(
  • Softball started back up which means two of our weeknights are consumed with softball.  It gives me one more excuse not to work out, but I'm going to try to muster up the motivation to fit workouts into my schedule.
  • I cannot wait for fall.  Wait. Let me rephrase that.... I want it to be fall right after my birthday (which happens to be in the first week of September).  I want to enjoy the 70 degree weather, pull out the sweatshirts, make chili, have hot tea, roast some squash, and have all my fall and winter Bath and Body Works candles burning without T telling me "you know it's August."  Summer wasn't as exciting as it usually has been, sure we've relaxed, but it's been so fast.
  • We have a plumber coming to repair the spigot on the back of the house today.  You see when we purchased the house the handle was cracked and broken off, we decided not to push to get something that little fixed because at the time we thought we would be able to replace the handle but because it is from the 1970's parts are slightly different and ours will have to be soldered on instead of the screw on types they sell at hardware stores.  At the same time I'm hoping that I don't get a call saying "we're going to have to do more than we thought and it's going to be ...."  those are probably my worse fears.  Only time will tell.
So what is it that we yearn to have a spigot in the backyard for?  Oh, well let me tell you about the dust clouds and the mud pits?  Last year we got the tree cut down and now we would love to have one of these guys back there for the fall...
Found here.
It would be nice to have nice lush green grass surrounding the firepit too!  We haven't had the best of luck in the front yard with grass but we are hoping that because the backyard gets shade throughout the day (along with the sun) that it has a better chance to get a good root base before the heat of summer NEXT year.

Since there are some areas that tend to get pretty wet we are thinking about a stone pathway something along the lines of the ones below.  Nothing that straight, maybe squares at an angle as a wide pathway from the gate around to the deck and then from the deck to the firepit?
Maybe squares at an angle?   Found here
Before we do anything we need a functioning spigot!!!  *Fingers crossed please*

It's Wednesday again (it's one of those indifferent days of the week) and this week I am thankful that Monday and Tuesday are over-with this week and Wednesday is here because it feels like things are starting to pick up again.  Summer calmed down but now that Fall is quickly approaching it seems to be ... maybe it's that my Birthday is coming and after that it always feels like a mad dash to get through the holidays alive and please everyone while doing so!

Typically I rant a little bit about the week or things that have happened recently, but to be honest there isn't anything out of the norm... except that anxious feeling that hit me.  So what do I do when I feel anxious? (other than have a glass of wine and cuddle with my three favorite boys?) ... make a list.

I would call this list something, but it's just going to be all the random things that I need, want, or should do in the near future.  Here we go...

  • Meme visiting.  When she visits we have to have EVERYTHING in place... which means we have to clean top to bottom.
  • Start saving for Christmas.  I used to love Christmas, the idea of being married, owning a home, and hosting parties was my dream and now I realize there just isn't any time to enjoy any of it.  We spend so much time getting ready for the holidays that you would think it would be a breeze but between traveling, time off, and pleasing everyone T and I look at each other only to wonder when we will get to relax and enjoy the holiday?  With that being said... my goal is to have 75% of Christmas presents purchased, wrapped, and ready to go BEFORE November 19th (this day marks the week of Thanksgiving when things just go insane).
  • Our Yard.  We have struggled with our yard... we've successfully grown grass three times in the past year and every time it dies despite how much TLC we give it.  We don't want our yard to consume our lives, but I would like to feel proud about it when I pull in the driveway.
  • Tires.  We're going to be purchasing tires for the car... which isn't exactly one of those fun purchases.
  • The Kitchen.  Our next "to do" is conquer the wallpaper, do something with the walls, knock down the upper cabinets, get electrical in the pantry, buy a free standing microwave, build/buy a counter height table, find bar stools, sell the rug in there (and probably the two B & W chairs) and then hang artwork.
  • Time Management.  Lately I haven't been too great on this... I forget my phone, wait to do laundry, don't put my shower shoes back in my gym bag, dread going to the grocery store, etc.  I think that Sunday's are going to be grocery day, Monday's laundry night, Tuesday's general pick up the house, Wednesday's vacuum/clean floors, and Thursday's probably more laundry.  I don't want to live my life by a schedule but things don't do themselves.  Another alternative would be the first 30 minutes I get home from work I get a load of clothes in the washer, get the gym bag ready, set things out on the counter for the next day, sort the mail, trash junk, pick up the dog toys/bones/blankets, etc so each night isn't designated to cleaning.
  • Did I mention Christmas is coming?
To make me think about kitchen's even more.... look what came in the mail?? Would you look at the open shelving?!  LOVE!!!!

HWT

I almost forgot about my half way there post... oops.  I'm still not back on my normal schedule from vacation yet.

  • We're still working not he finishing touches of the bathroom.  We have some shelves and hooks that we have been hoarding storing in the SR for over 8 months that we need screws for before having them.  I would think that things would come with hardware... wrong.
  • I won 4 box seats and a parking pass to any Mudcats baseball game this year along with the O Brother Where Art Thou CD.  I'm still in shock that I won something!
  • Slade's snout has been red for almost a month now,  I thought it was the new natural local food we switched to so we went back to Blue Buffalo but still nothing.  It's not bleeding or anything THAT bad, but it's clear he is allergic to something.  T and I researched online last night and we think it might be the mosquito plants :(  Since the plants are in the fern family (dogs are allergic to them) it can cause a reaction.  T is going to get rid of the plants tonight.
Trying to hide his nose so I don't notice he has been scratching at it
  • I just realized that I completely forgot about my resolutions post last month!!!  I will update you on how things have been going in the next few days.
  • I'm frustrated with my bank... Last week I went in to pull some cash out in small bills for the festival and the teller let me know that my "fees" for me essential accounts would begin August 5th, she explained that a letter had been sent out for each account.  We received no such letter... surprise.  Now I have to make a decision what to do with that account or I will be charged beginning August 5th $5 a month.  Thanks Wells Fargo, you are awesome...
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

Today is Friday!!  Wait, don't want to get everyone's hopes up... it's actually just our "Friday" because we have the next five days off.  I'm not sure I know what to do with myself!?  Either way, it's still half way through there (the week of course).

I'm going to miss these guys.... A LOT!  My dad came up to babysit them and while he spoils them to death and I know he takes good care of them.... I don't know what I'm going to do without them.  They are my children people!
Fenway doesn't EVER stay still when I pull the camera out.  He's been extra cuddly lately.
I think Slade is reliving his puppyhood since he is trying to lay in Fenway's bed now...
Have a great "rest of the week" :)

HWT

It's Wednesday, again.

  • I love to try out new recipes, but I cannot stand when I cook one side dish and am left with 15 different things to wash... really?  Who enjoys washing dishes?  Not me.  I made squash casserole last night and had a sink full of dishes by the time it went into the oven.  On a lighter note - the casserole was delish.

Squash Casserole.  Found here.

  • I went running for the first time in two week yesterday.... it was 92 degrees and with the heat index it was 101.  It was hot, and needless to say, I didn't get too far.  I felt like I was running in an oven.  (Today I'm going to the gym)
  • Trying new recipes on interest seems to be my jam lately (odd, usually I just pin a thousand things before I actually try one, lol).  While T was out playing poker Monday night I decided I wanted a brownie and tried the single serving microwave brownie.  People - let me tell you - go ahead and get a box of brownie mix out or get in the car and go to the nearest bakery.  This wasn't good.  It didn't even look good... FAIL.
While I did mix everything in the cup - it didn't even resemble a brownie. UGH.
Have a great Wednesday!

It's Wednesday and I haven't minded this work week (as soon as I type this it will mean everything goes to hell).

Two weeks from today T and I will be pulling out of the driveway to begin our journey to FloydFest!  Floydfest is a bluegrass music festival with a little reggae mixed in with it.  This is our first music festival experience - needless to say I was slightly hesitant on committing but now that it's quickly approaching I'm ready for it (partly because I have no other choice).  I won't mind the music 24/7, the loud crazy people, or even lack of AC.... it's the camping portion that made me hesitant.... something about public shower and restrooms make me cringe.  Today I made a list of all the necessities that we will be carrying (no, my macbook isn't on the list).

  • a cross body bag - I want to take our cash, ID's, camera, and phones with us at all times
  • quick dry clothing
  • head lamp
  • first aid kit
  • toilet paper (I know, TMI)
  • very light weight sleeping bags
  • rain jacket
  • facial wipes
  • baby wipes
  • water and sports drinks
  • bug spray
  • sun screen
  • shower shoes
  • toiletry bag w/travel size products
  • towels
  • phone and camera charger
Here is what we've had to pick up thus far; T two pairs of shorts, T one shirt, neon cross body bag,  me a raincoat, and me one pair of shorts
We've tried to pick up a couple things as we go along over the past few months.  We still need to pick up the sleeping bags and head lamp which we plan to visit Wal Mart for the best deal - we don't need top of the line (just that they work).

In other news, the boys have enjoyed ice cream.  They need a nice treat after a long hot day of laying on the couch and air vent, right?!
In less than 5 minutes they both finished, Slade first of course.
Have a great Wednesday!

HWT

It's Wednesday already?!?

  • I resent that gym's try to sell you personal training sessions.  Don't offer me a free personal training session and then just talk to me about my life... I want a workout.
  • Juicing for breakfast is getting easier... now that I know there needs to be a veggie/fruit ratio otherwise I gag.  I have learned NOT to buy Kale from a farmer's market because it is much cheaper at the grocery store (surprisingly)
Kale, Carrots, Apple, Pear, and Peach
  • Slade slept on the couch all by his lonesome Monday night.  I guess T didn't make sure he came to the bedroom after he was done playing xbox.  Of course in the morning when we woke up he didn't act any differently, just did the morning breakfast dance next to the closet where we keep his food.
  • This weekend... I want to eat healthy and work out.  Weekend's are what gets me, I do significantly better during the week eating than I do on the weekend.  I don't eat a lot on the weekend, but I do tend to eat out or the less than healthy options.  Oh yeah.... and have a few alcoholic beverages.
Have a great Wednesday!
