So we planted grass almost two weeks ago (10/2 to be exact) and thus far not much has happened. Let me remind you that we attempted to grow grass in the spring but since we left for a week the heat killed it off without getting water. We are attempting again with the same seed and fertilizer since we already had some leftover and only had to purchase a little more. Each day we have watered by hand (to prevent the seed to washing into clumps). After a week it didn't look like a thing had changed. I felt like kicking and screaming at the yard (and yes, I realize my neighbors would think I was insane)
Day 1 (Just after raking)
Remember from here, I also decided against buying any mums this year (since I've yet to master flowers) so I decided to plant some Rye grass in my pots to have some color. This was the "quick seed" stuff and it is amazing. Hopefully our grass will take off in the yard and something similar will be used to fill in those hard to grow areas. I hardly used any and look at how it has progressed!Day 1 (Yes I left my watering can out to remember to water the pots)
Day 5
Day 7
Day 9
Day 11 (...Pretty)
And the grass is the yard has taken off! Maybe by Monday I can give y'all an update where the yard looks green and not brown. (Maybe)
I still have my fingers crossed because until it is rooted good and the yard is green I'm not letting my guard down. I plan to give my potted grass a haircut this weekend.... probably with scissors. If we can get grass growing that means no more grass expenses and we can begin on the kitchen project :)
