Here we go..... so when we went through the inspection I snapped a few photos.

Standing in the entryway looking back into the kitchen.
We have a long kitchen with a small eat in area. We tried to use the old glass table that I had prior to T and I getting together in my first apartment. It was a tight fit in the eat in area that the first weekend there the chairs had to have been banged against the wall several times. There was no way that was going to fly (especially after we take down the wallpaper and freshly paint. The final straw was that because the chairs were so close to the cabinets/counter top Slade was able to crawl up on top and feast. I think that probably happened once or twice and then we realized that we were not going to be able to keep the table and chairs there. Within a week we sold the table and chairs, but I was not sad, I was happy to never have to wipe the glass top down five minutes to get every speck off. (Please excuse the vacuum parts drying from being cleaned out)
The room did not sit empty long I had purchased these two chairs because I had envisioned a sitting area while we entertained in that area since we moved in back in February. We put one of our old glass side tables (again - not crazy about the glass) and that lasted a few weeks, each time we left the house we would have to make sure that the chairs were not anywhere near the cabinet/counter top again (Thanks Slade). As we cleared out the SR we figured we had too much furniture and wanted to get rid of some stuff so that we could purchase stuff that we wanted. We sold the glass table set (2 side tables and a coffee table) and then we are left with two chairs. Similar to this...Kinda sad right? Other than the dogs sitting there watching us cook this room gets zero use now....well other than holding the toilet paper, paper towels, and the mail. Please ignore the rug that we have no idea what we are doing with?
So When this giant stack of mail came in our mailbox my first thought was "Oh, you know its the holidays because all the stores are sending out stuff." Literally I received three store magazines, multiple coupon offers, ads, and of course the usual credit card pre-qualify letters, and then the only thing worth while was the Martha Stewart Living Magazine. I sat down and sorted through all the junk and I came across this "Creative Ideas" magazine from Lowes. I figured it would just be representing certain brand products but I was pleasantly surprised when I found that they took three families and showed what they did on a budget to make their house their home. I saw that one couple was short on space in their bedroom and used pre-made cabinets to create a corner bench seat to allow storage and seating all at the same time. Well, T and I don't have many tools so the fact that it was created using a pre-made cabinet I immediately started thinking..... this can't be hard.... we can handle this.... and it sounds affordable! I ran across the room and showed T.... he actually said that was a good idea! (I nearly fainted) We have been trying to figure out a "permanent" option for that space since we moved in since my "sitting area" was vetoed. I went to the website to see the "how to" but I guess since the magazine was just mailed out they still have the previous magazine's projects still up, you can find the content here. What made be get excited was that Lowes is finally getting smart - they are mailing out a magazine that has projects in there for people on a budget!!These cabinets are 36"x15" - they also have a standard height of 12" and 18"
Here are a few inspirational pictures (Thank you Pinterest)
This would kinda be like it, reversed and on a smaller scale.
So like this.
This may be an option too since it would leave for a more open feel.
So after I checked out Lowes website I found this option...
This one is $99 30"x18"
I think we would like to figure out our exact measurements and try to work with something at the habitat Restore. I would imagine that we could get one at least half the price and that way I could have $$ for the table, cushions, and fabric :) More to come later as the project progresses. We're still deciding on sizes and how exactly we want it to look.
