Vents and Vases

Over Memorial Day weekend T and I noticed that our ventilation fan in the attic sounded like a plane was taking off.  As I mentioned before two of the four brackets had broken off and the thing sounded horrible as if it were going to fall from it's mounted position at any given time.  It only took about a week to cool off enough to be able to work up there after the sun went down (for T).
This is what we got to spend out money on.... exciting right?
I absolutely hate these stairs.  The house I grew up in was prepped for a second floor so we had a full set of stairs going to our attic so I didn't mind going up there, but, these... not so much.
The house I grew up in was prepped for a second floor to be completed later down the road so there was a full set of stairs going up to the attic which was nice because the pull down thing like we have creeps me out.  Which brings me to my point since I wasn't up there T didn't take pictures of the fan before he took it down and installed the new one.... oops.
Our new ventilation fan, isn't she pretty?  T had to move one of the 2x4's you see because this fan is actually smaller than the older one, but still has a higher CFM value.
I usually tell him to take pictures at different angles, so here you can see it at another level.
Why hello 1978,  you aren't looking too bad
Except two of the four brackets looked like this...
And originally looked like this one.
The blades look so much less efficient, don't they?  Maybe I just like the new one because there is no longer a runway above my head.
Surprisingly this only took T about 20 minutes to complete, it was a quick project but not a fun one.  I mean what do I do when people come over and ask "Have you done anything to the house recently?"  ..."Oh, well, I'm so glad you asked, would you like to climb the sketchy ladder to see our $85 ventilation fan?"  Not.  I would much rather show them one of the many projects we would like to complete that is aesthetically appealing!
While we are on the subject of ventilation fans, what temperature do you set yours on?  I mean I don't want to keep our attic at 70 degrees but at the same time I don't want to have to replace our Christmas decorations or other items stored up there due to heat damage.

While we were at Meme's over the weekend T was going to cut down a dead tree for her in her front yard but we couldn't find my grandfather's chainsaw anywhere in his building.  Instead of a chainsaw I found this baby underneath his hauling trailer.  My grandfather used to find and buy random things and make lamps out of them, it was his hobby.  He really enjoyed working out in his building over the years.... and I have to saw I would too that sucker has A/C, music, and every tool one could think of out there.  This was a lamp that he had already busted the bottom out of in plans of making a lamp but since I am not the lamp maker I wanted it to sit in our house because I loved the vintage pattern.
Vase (and orange monkey in the background)
Here you can see the hole in the bottom and Slade thinking that it might have food in it.
The bottom was a little rough and not knowing right where I want to put the vase I didn't want to scratch anything up.  I took a sheet of felt that is sticky on one side and traced the bottom of the vase, cut it out slightly smaller since I didn't want the green felt to show, and you stick it on.... complicated, right? lol.
All felted on the bottom.  (Why yes, we were watching RHOC)
I still haven't figured out the vase's home yet.  I have a couple places in mind.  If I ever get the SR cleared out from ally he picture frames, paintings, and extra duvet it may live in there on a shelf.  That is the one room that has zero direction right now... and the only white room left in our house.  (When we moved in the whole house was white with the exception of the wallpaper in the master bath and kitchen).

Have a great Thursday.
