Birchbox Man

So, T decided he liked getting a surprise in the mail like I do each month.  Since Birchbox did send us a replacement watch from the last Birchbox where he received a broken product we continued the subscription in hopes that he would receive better boxes.  T learned through googling that there were a lot of great boxes out there and that he just happened to have bad luck with his box.  Here we go...

The goods
Out of the box
  • Quirky - Cordies:  This is the item in the box labeled to "keep your cables on the table" and he cannot decide if we should use this for our cell phone, laptop, and iPod/ipad chargers or take this to work (since he is constantly plugging in and unplugging his laptop).  Ironically we have seen these sold in Target (my fav) before and contimplating purchasing... lucky for us we just saved $10 (kinda).
  • Quirky - Wrapster:  This is the blue tubular item in the photos above and I have to admit that I kinda want to steel it and use it myself (but I'm a good wifey and will let him have it to use).  It's not uncommon for either of us to battle untangling our iPod headphones so hopefully this will help out. $5
  • John Allan - slickwater pre-shave solution:  This is a formula that you apply before shaving so you can avoid nicks, bumps, and irritation.  T happens to break out every time he shaves so he has kept a 5 o'clock shadow look for over four years now because his neck/face breaks out so bad when he shaves despite the products he uses.  Maybe this is the perfect one, we will see.  $29 for the full size, this was a sample size probably worth about $4-6
  • BENTA BERRY - Super Moisturizing Face Cream:  Face cream that it said to do it all in the "perfect" way.  Moisturize but not leave face feeling oily, hydrate skin but not leave skin looking greasy, and not clog pores or cause breakouts.  T isn't the biggest on face creams (like most guys) but I'm sure he might use it after he gets a lot of sun on his face? $20 for full size and T received two small tube samples (that will last hime forever, lol)
  • Supersmile - Professional Whitening System:  Inside the box are two tubes, a whitening toothpaste or whitening accelerator, that you combine on your dry toothbrush before use.  The claim is that it does not strip the enamel off your teeth (which a lot of over the counter whitening systems do - most famously the crest white strips).  The reviews appear to be pretty good so we plan to try it out since the reviews claim a little goes a long way.  Full size $36, but I found it for $18 while looking for reviews.
T was happy with this month's box, probably because of the Quirky products, but the other products were on the small side considering the price of the men's box.  At the price of $20 a month I would like to see a true "deluxe" sample and not something that I could walk into Sephora or Ulta and ask for a sample and get the same size.  I wish there was another men's box that would give Birchbox a run for their money because they would probably consider stepping it up.
