HWT!

It's half way through the work-week again!

  • I am covering for one of my co-worker's this week while she is soaking cup rays in Cabo (see - I am a nice person).  Let me tell you one thing... there is not enough money in the world for me to do her job.  She works directly with superintendents of neighborhoods and they are by far some of the rudest people I have ever had to speak with - they talk down to you as if it was my fault that they didn't frame their garage door out properly or not have their electrical work completed when they scheduled us to come out.  It's safe to say that I think I might hug her when she returns to the office Monday!
  • Getting pieces of glass for the new furniture in the DR has proven to be a HUGE headache.  I have had several conversations with a man at a glass place only about 1/2 mile from our house.  It appears that he is a one man show (which is fine) but when I called him yesterday to make sure he received the tracing of the top of the furniture his attitude changed drastically - here's how he answered my question... "Yes, (BIG SIGH) the smaller one is not a problem but the larger one is much more difficult and the price is $82.50 and that's really not enough but I will need better tracings and more measurements since the ones you gave me don't give me all the information"  So at this point I'm thinking to myself... he sounds irritated that I have a odd shaped piece of furniture that is going to cause him to make more cuts and that he is doing me a favor by selling it to me for $82.50 when that is the price he gave me and I didn't ask for a discount or anything.  The part that annoyed me the most was that I followed his directions by running my fingernail around the edge of the furniture followed by tracing the edge to see the general idea and included measurements (length and width)..... now he wants me to put a heavy object like a chair on the furniture and include measurements every 4 inches.  If he wanted that, why didn't he tell me the first time? Needless to say - we called another glass company when as soon as I mentioned that we had a odd shaped piece of furniture he offered to come out and take the tracing himself because he would rather take the responsibility for messing up the glass.  Also - he offered to come out Saturday morning!!
  • After two complaints I feel I should end on a high note.  I am VERY thankful for the trees in our yard this time of year.  While we have been running the a/c at 73 for the past month our electric bill was only $62.00 while we have had higher than average temperatures for the month of April (most days over 80 degrees and some in the 90's).
Now that it is warmer Fenway spends most of his time on the tile floors.  It's just cooler that way.
