Goodbye Birchbox Man

T was excited to see the second Birchbox Man in the mail on Saturday.  It's not the same kind of excited I get when mine arrives, but he does like the surprise of what is inside part of it.  The first box he liked the skin care products but the patterned colored socks? Not so much.  I imagine that all the boxes are the same size, but this box looked smaller.  I remember that the first one barely fit in the mailbox and this one fit in there with extra room to spare (I wish I would've saved the first one, but it was stepped on).  I have to say Birchbox - you really blew it this time around... They made several mistakes.
I like that the Birchbox Man slides out, rather than the standard top/bottom box style.
The goods
Anthony Logistics for Men - Glycolic Facial Cleanser: T has used Anthony products before and it was no surprise that this is a great product.  While the card within the box says that he should've received the shave gel, he received the facial cleanser instead.... surprise!  (Birchbox: 0)  It has a fresh herbal scent that leaves your face clean, but not too dried out.
Kerastase Bain - Capital Force Anti-Oiliness Shampoo: T hasn't used this yet, we are waiting to see if Birchbox follows through with their promise of sending the actual sample size of the product and not just the foil pouch.  They corrected their mistake in packaging the boxes and said they would be mailing out the proper sample. (we're waiting).
John Varvatos - Star U.S.A.:  Can I say that I really liked this cologne?  I sometimes feel it's easier to make a male scent than it is a woman's scent?  I wish I could tell you what makes up the scent but all I know is that it is manly and I like it.
RumbaTime - VanDam GO: This watch had great potential, made from the same silicone-like material in one size fits all band that claims to have the capabilities to combine payments and emergency information all within the watch.  Unfortunately T's watch didn't work,  the battery is dead or he received a defective one.  Valued at $35, it would've made the box worthwhile.  I would also like to say that if you notice the picture below, it takes you to a website that explains the service is $14.95 for one year service or $19.95 for two year subscription.
This small card comes out and is where the payment card fits within the band
I'll give it to Rumba, great design and innovation.
T decided that this was the last Birchbox he wished to receive and we canceled after opening the box.  While the woman's box might not always be perfect, it is half the price, justifying $20 a month on two so-so INTRODUCTORY boxes didn't fit in our opinion of our money well spent.  If T wants to try out a new product it's better we walk into Sephora and ask for a sample (for free) or buy a new watch that he could use while working out.  I wish Birchbox Man all the best, but they have some kinks to work out before we will invest in their products for men again.
