T likes to put Christmas lights outside, it's his area of decorating. I give him free range with the one limitation that we only do white lights. It's classy! We have done lights the past three years; the past two at our townhouse with our 5x5 yard space and even the year we lived in our apartment on the railing. This year he must have felt like a kid in a candy store. He had a whole front (and back if he wanted) yard to fill with lights. I think he may have felt a bit intimidated because he kept it simple.... OR maybe he knew I wouldn't be too fond if he made it look like Chevy Chase decorated the yard?! We live in a transitional neighborhood where there are half older couples and half younger couples/families. We didn't expect many people to have lights out in the yard but little to our surprise the people that live on the street behind us literally have a candy-cane lined street and each house (about 6) all go all out with Christmas lights! I mean these people have a 18' tall Santa in their yard!
View from across the pond: This house has "bulbs" made from lights hanging in all their trees
The picture just doesn't do it - the street is lined with candy-canes and lights.
Craziness.
We liked Santa in the beach chair.
And the Santa Grinch
See 18' Santa (We saw it available at Lowes)

Anyone else go all out this year? I think T wants to do more on the roof next year, maybe his goal is to see if we can be seen from a mile away, lol.
