November Birchbox

Due to Hurricane Sandy my Birchbox arrived about 4 days later than it usually does but with everything that happened to the northeast I consider myself very lucky.  I'm surprised Birchbox was up and running so quickly after the storm!

Love to open a box
The Goods

  • Atelier Cologne - Rose Anonyme Cologne Absolue:  This perfume was WAY to strong and "old" smelling for me.  It's probably the bergamot and rose combined that isn't me.  The perfume is also pretty pricey at $75-$195 for a full size.  Thanks, but no thanks.
  • Miracle Skin Transformer - Vanish instant Imperfection Corrector:  The formula goes on silky smooth but after a full day still made me feel a bit greasy.  I just have issues with lotions and primers being "too much" leaving my complexion feeling heavy.  At $58 for a full size, a bit pricey so I think I will stick with other oil free moisturizers.
  • Oscar Blandi - Pronto Texture & Volume Spray:  Volume, a bit, but after a few hours it leaves my hair feeling heavy.  I could probably pull it off to "bump" my hair or if I pimped it up.... but not if I just used it and blowed it out.  The spray would probably work for a person with dry curly hair but not for a fine straight haired person like me.
  • Stila - All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer:  I was super excited to find this product in my box and even though it rolled down in the picture above.  I will say I don't believe this is a "full size" object...it's plenty size to last me until I get bored with it though!  Definitely one of the best products I received in my box.  I loved putting it on the outer arches of my eyebrow and the apples of my cheeks.  It's just enough to put it on without being "too much."  A full size is $20 and I think this would last forever.
  • Chuao Chocolatier - Potato Chip (kettle chips and sea salt in milk chocolate): This chocolate was a nice addition to the box,  I'm not sure it is anything "special" that I would go out of my way purchasing because we live less than 5 minutes from a Trader Joe's and they have plenty of specialty chocolates at a fraction of the cost.  It's nice to add to a gift that you want to look pretty and I definitely support local. For a sample of 7 chocolates is $7.95.
This Birchbox was worth the money, in my opinion.  I strongly disliked the perfume, but I understand you can't win them all.  I think the Stila product was a great find too... i'm usually too cheap to purchase products that I "might" like so it was a nice advantage to getting a sample box.

How was yours?
