I have a problem of over-comitting myself. Sometimes it's because I have a terrible memory and other times it's because I feel bad and feel obligated to do things. Of course, there are always the things that I want to do too.... and as much as I want to do them.... I'm learning that down time keeps people sane.
Last week I felt like I played catch up Monday-Friday.... ending in me falling asleep before 9pm on Friday night (way to have a life). Over the weekend I not only worked the home show but I had booked both Saturday and Sunday afternoon through night completely full. *Note to self: do not do this again. Working a home show makes anyone tired, it must be the combination of standing on concrete for hours on end or the people that come up and ask you a million questions only to find out they live in another state. Sigh.
Monday felt like the day would never end. I was hoping that when I looked at my phone to see that it was 2pm that it had frozen (which is often does) but when I looked at the computer screen it clearly was only 2pm. I could've gone home and crawled in bed at 5:30pm... but instead I made dinner, ate, put on warm clothing and went out to T's softball game (which his team had their first win... EVER...so I'm glad I went) at 7 and did not get home until 10:30pm. Why am I telling you the tie-bits of my life you might wonder? Because I need someone to vent to, and whomever (crickets) that read this might have a bit of advice on what to do. Let's get a little run down of this week after work
Monday - softball @8 (we have to leave the house by 7 in time to get there and T can "warm up")
Tuesday - workout (when I have time) and WW @ 7 (I have to leave at 6:20 to be able to weigh in prior to the meeting)
Wednesday - softball @ 6:45 (have to leave the house by 5:45)
Thursday - meeting a friend afterwork to workout and grab dinner
Friday - If I haven't pulled out my hair by now.... workout, all laundry, cleaning, and attempt to have a social life all while T probably has to work later than I will be awake.
At the beginning of 2012 I began a monthly series on my little blog on how I wanted to hold myself accountable for my New Year's Resolutions since I, like most individuals, go strong for the first month and then slowly but surely slack off. I did pretty decent for 6 months and then... I literally forgot about it. In case you are wondering, check it out here. While we have saved, T and I are much better to each other than we have been in the past 5 years, but my patience still depends on the time of day and I just started addressing the whole weight thing again last week.... it's time to get on it already to prevent a disaster during the holidays (again).
The point being that I made it my goal and had every intention of "maintaining" the house better instead of cleaning like crazy people one day a week. While our house isn't "dirty" or look like a hurricane has gone through it, it also isn't up to my standards and it bothers me. When I come home after work to only work more on things that easily could have been prevented, I immediately get anxious. T doesn't
I've tried the whole "10 minute clean up" time every day and it just turns into an hour because once I start, I mid as well finish. I've tried to clean as you go approach.... and then I'm late to get out of the door. I've tried to split up tasks... and we both do them.... but not on a routine basis.
How do you find the balance of obligations/cleaning/workout/eat healthy? Do we not do anything and have a clean house? Do I go workout and eat horrible? If I did it all I wouldn't get to bed until 1am every night I feel like. Heck... I haven't even painted my toenails in three weeks!! (That is one of my favorite "relaxing" moments that I enjoy)
So I hope that I am not the only one that struggles with keeping a clean house, saying no to people, finding time to workout, eat healthy, and have a life? Or am I just that crazy?
