This past weekend Meme came up to visit.... she wanted to get out of Carteret County so she came up to Cary for half the weekend. To be honest, I'm proud that she can get to and from home because I'm worried she gets confused driving (but you can't tell her anything).
I should mention that we used a Groupon Thursday night to have our date night at Midtown Grill in North Hills and it was AMAZING!! I have to say I would go back for a special occasion!

Friday we cooked
this recipe in the crock pot while we were at work. It's nice to come home from work/gym and all you have to do it cook the sides instead of the whole meal. I have to say that the turkey recipe int he crock pot was delicious and we will be cooking again and again (especially since Fall is around the corner).
Friday also including the tie-dyed tea towels and T shirt from last weekend were finally dried!!! I washed them in cold water Thursday night and let them air dry hanging on our hanger in the hallway. Slade decided that he wasn't going to move so he helped with the showcasing of the outcome. He didn't seem to mind that I threw a few things on him at all :) (honestly, who is surprised here?).

The shirt didn't turn out as I hoped... originally I had planned to only dye the top and then I accidentally dropped a few drops of dye on the middle and end of the shirt so I *Attempted* to dye in an ombre affect... but it didn't last past washing :( It kinda all blended together.
The tea towels turned out MUCH better than I anticipated and I'm thankful of my luck at my first hand in tie dying (since the age of 8, lol). Since I did each towel a different technique I didn't have to worry about the towels all matching, but luckily the saturation of the color was all pretty much equal. I didn't follow the directions exactly, I kinda of left them in the dye while I "swished" them around for about 3-5 minutes followed by ringing out with my (ungloved) hands, laying on paper towels for two days and then outside on the deck for a day ..... and forgetting about it until after it rained (oops). After the towels completely dried (for the second time) I washed them in cold water and let them air dry again. That's my big secret... basically forget about them and then wish, hope, and pray they turn out okay!
Remember my rocks that I wrapped with rubber bands in the tea towels? Well let me tell you those little babies turned out to be my favorite design of all my tea towels! Those suckers turned out to be the best objects at creating random shapes! It was time consuming but it was worth the outcome.

| The random shapes the rocks created. |

| Cuddling. Totally normal... goodness I look like one of those weird dog ladies! |
Friday night sometime there was a strong storm and it knocked down the branch that was in one of our trees, ironically this was the same branch that the guy who cut our oak tree down said "wasn't dead at all".... surprise surprise, right?
 |
| Slade couldn't figure out why there was stuff on his deck (yes, his). |
 |
| RIP Rubbermaid container |
 |
| These are the parts that T threw off the deck... Fenway was investigating. (Yes, it flipped over the table) |
 |
| Cracked a decking board on the step. |
I guess we'll have to get my dads miter saw to repair the deck. We are both thankful that the branch didn't fall on the house or the grill. The one board that it did hurt might cost us $10, but if the wind would've blown harder or another direction it could've been hundreds.
Saturday morning we went to one of our favorites, Cary Cafe, and had breakfast. I'm not sure what is is about going out to breakfast but it really makes me feel like a newlywed? Is that weird? I also love not having my house smell like bacon or sausage the rest of the day! I highly recommend their pumpkin waffles and french toast. Loves.

Saturday after breakfast Meme arrived, a little late this time, but still early morning. We caught up and then ventured around Raleigh. I was wiped by the end of the day between driving, shopping, looking at cars, and walking... typically I'm all about being busy but I have no idea how she kept up and pushed me through the day (I hope I have her energy when I get her age).
Sunday after having an eventful breakfast at IHOP we worked on the potted plants, groomed the flowers, weeded the flower beds and the sidewalk to the house. Meme attempted to transplant some of the grass that was growing around the rocks on the sidewalk to help us out... I don't have much hope for it since our grass has died three times. The remainder of the afternoon was spent doing laundry and watching the Olympics. Might I add that Rhythmic gymnastics is dance and I'm trying to figure out what makes an "Olympic sport" vs not? I guess I shouldn't worry too much considering it's over.

| It was needed!! |
 |
| Slade had enough Olympics |
 |
| Fenway is always interested in ANYTHING! |
How was your weekend? We didn't do anything around the house but we have a busy week ahead of us! T's Fall softball starts this week which means two nights a week we will be at the softball fields and there will be more laundry!
