Our Weekend

Happenings over the weekend...

Window Rug Shopping in HomeGoods.  I have to say that I need to get quicker on my toes because I really fell in love with the second one, but because I wasn't quick enough when T asked "Where would it go?" I missed out.
$99 isn't too shabby for this bold printed rug
$149 for this SUPER soft rug (that didn't shed) wasn't too bad either!
I did make one purchase... Rock Your Hair - Bombshell Big Hair Powder has been on my list of products to try for months now but because it retails for $17 I haven't splurged until I found it at TJMaxx for $ 7.99.  At half the original price I decided it was coming home with me because my poor fine hair sure could use any good pick me up.  I believe this (along with all the other products from the line) were at TJMaxx because they changed their bottles... luckily I don't care too much about the shape of the bottles :)
Tiny bottle but it'll last me a good long while
Holla!
Saturday morning we ate at Le Farm Bakery and we had our favorite ham and cheese with a fried egg on top.  We love this place because it has great coffee and offers free refills on iced coffee but because recently they have had issues with people camping out all day and taking advantage of the free refills they moved the coffee station behind the cashier and posted a sign that due to this they may be forced to discontinue this offering :(
Amazing... just too good!
Attempted dyeing an old tee shirt and tea cloths...
I googled several different images to find options on wrapping to get a desired pattern and then wrapped, twisted, and knotted for about 30 minutes.  I had both my boys cuddled up on the couch with me.
They are precious
This was T getting an action shot of me wrapped stones in the tea cloth to get a shape (hopefully)
Ready
My plan was to just dye the top of the shirt in a ombre effect.... until I accidentally splashed dye on spots of the shirt... and dyed the whole thing
Getting color
So I forgot about gloves... so I tried to keep my hands out as much as possible
state of the art drying
ombre.... first attempt
The corners of this one are wrapped in pebbles
I left things here to dry overnight
The sink may not look bad in the picture - when you wipe it down it was covered in a dark magenta scum.  Cloroxed it and everything was fine!
I planned on pulling all the bands off tonight, seeing what everything looked like, washing them, and seeing if they survived the wash... but I made dinner, cleaned the kitchen, went to the gym, and visited a friend that just had surgery instead of crafting.  I don't regret anything except that I had laid the three twisted tea cloth's on the deck to dry out in the sun on Sunday and forgot about them until I was at my friend's house and it began to pour down raining.  I guess it can't hurt them?  We'll have to wait and see.  I didn't want to risk dragging soaking wet magenta tea cloth's through the house and have magenta spots everywhere.  Does anyone have any dying experience?  Have I royally screwed things up?  Will it turn out okay?

We celebrated a friend's Birthday!
Proudly holding her beer
Some of us can hold onto our purses better than others...
It isn't your Birthday until you get beat with your own Birthday balloons!
So there is our weekend in a nutshell....  it was fun, maybe a little too much!
