May Birchbox

Here I go - two in one day (since I was lazy yesterday)

Let me first say - You go Birchbox!  Thanks for two months of rocking samples in a row.

This month's box had a theme from Gossip Girls (to me that just means that it's inspired from a tv show since I'm not a avid follower of the show) which is nice that they do special boxes.

It was in a black box this month!

Contents.  Pretty Excited about that Stila sample on the left!

 So what's in the box?
  • Bvlgari - Omnia Crystalline Eau de Toilette Spray: Pretty decent smelling perfume, I wouldn't spray more than one spritz though (unless you are trying to go for that old lady overpowering smelling kinda vibe)  It has hints of lotus flowers, bamboo, and Nashi pears.
  • Dr. Jart + - Waterfuse BB Cream:  I was excited when I saw this in here since BB cream's are all the rave recently but because they are on the more expensive side I was waiting to try (or at least read reviews) on a couple before taking the plunge to purchase one for myself.  This would have been my favorite sample this month but it was 95% empty!!  I kid you not!  I was so bummed out about this - literally I had to use four fingers to squeeze out the tiniest bit of cream that wasn't even enough to cover one cheek.  I emailed Birchbox about it because for them to have a tube as big as it was I would expect to at least get two maybe three uses out of it. I'll let you know if they respond, I emailed them Friday and they responded Monday that they were shipping me another sample in the mail!
  • Ojon - Volume Advance Volumizing Conditioner: I'm confused.... so it is a volumizing oil treatment?  Volumizer's usually dry you hair out?  Doesn't oil weigh hair down?  So isn't this counter intuitive?
  • Stila - Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner:  Holla! Full Size sample!!  That's a $22 value!  This was a goldfish brown color with sparkles.  Liquid liners are great for that crisp look and this one has the added punch of sparkle to it too.  I will say that this stuff is much harder to get off your eyelids than any other eyeliner I have used in the past - of course I feel this is due to the glitter (anything with glitter is harder to remove).

  • Twistband - Hair Tie:  I received two of these in my box.  Usually I use the standard brown or black Goody hair ties that you can get about anywhere today and they usually last about 5 uses and then need to be tossed because they stretch out.  I used this band to loosely pull my hair back in a low pony-tail and it was significantly stretched out after one use - I should add that I only twisted it around my hair twice and was not pulled back "tight" at all.  It's pretty to use for daytime use but I wouldn't recommend these if you are looking for something to pull back your hair to go work out.
  • EXTRA:  This month they included a note card as their "Lifestyle Extra" and I have to say I get that it is something additional they are giving you for free, but I didn't fall in love with it.
Has anyone else subscribed to Birchbox?  What do y'all think?  I watched a few YouTube reviews on Birchbox and learned that it can be really hit or miss, but it is still a great way to find out about new products that ordinarily one wouldn't buy.

***I learned some things last week when I was YouTubing.... I'm going to be sharing those later this week!
