I gotta feeling

There is nothing like a little Black Eyed Peas on the treadmill at 6:05am, right?

Now, if you would've asked me this a few months ago I might have said "HAH" but today was the first day of attempting to work out in the morning in two years.  Last time was the fall of 2010 when we "fell back" at the end of Daylight Savings Time and I thought it would be a good time because my "wake up schedule" wouldn't change too much.... I think I lasted 3 or 4 times to the gym before I called it quits.  See I was getting up at 5:45am and crashing at/around 9:00pm every night.  This was when T was going to the gym in the afternoon with a friend so he wouldn't even get home until 7:00pm.  Two lousy hours of time together wasn't cutting it - it literally just felt as if we were roommates instead of in a relationship.  Fast forward two years; we got married, T's friend joined the Navy so T now works out during his lunch break, we moved to the other side town (technically a different city), and our commutes flopped (I drive 20+ minutes while T drives a max of 8 minutes to work).  Since one of my New Years Resolution was to get back on track with my weight I figured that since I have became a pro at talking myself out of going to the gym by closing time each day that I should probably try to go in the mornings and get it over with for the day.

So as the week goes by I will see how morning workouts go...

Since I only have about an hour in the mornings to workout (because I do refuse to get up any earlier than 5:30am) I plan to:

  • 30 minutes of cardio: intervals on the treadmill, arch trainer, stair master, elliptical (you know keep the body guessing)
  • 30 minutes of weights:  some days just focus of upper or lower body, complete circuit workouts
  • AND - if I feel REALLY motivated maybe take a morning class

I don't plan to ONLY go in the mornings.  For instance the spin class I went to last night had a great instructor so I plan to start going on Monday afternoons each week since I have a friend that joins me and holds me accountable for that class. I have to have a friend at a class for me to go on a weekly basis - otherwise I can easily talk myself into "Oh, you can just get on the treadmill for 30 minutes and do 10 minutes of abs and get out sooner"  BAD, BAD M!!!  I am trying to have the attitude now of "I can do this"  (somebody please keep me in your thoughts because right now it's more like "I hope I can do this").

PS.  If you want to see how I've done thus far with my New Years Resolutions check out how January and February went... I haven't lost much.... but at least I'm not gaining any more!!!
