Our Friday Night

We had a date night last Friday, and it was much needed.
Until last month T and I had only spent three nights apart in almost 5 years.  Since I have been going to be with my family each weekend and he has been holding the fort down with the boys (the dogs) it has felt so weird to leave each other.  A band that we saw back in the early fall opening to Holy Ghost Tent Revival called Dirty Bourbon River Show played in Durham at Motorco down in their warehouse district.  T was pretty excited since the tickets were cheap and it was on Friday.  We had dinner at a trendy little place, Geer Street Garden, and the food was amazing!  Let me say one thing... their indoor seating is VERY limited and if you are in the area and thinking about going I would try to get there by 6 on a weekend since we arrived at 6:30 and waited a little over 30 minutes for a table.  I will come back and say that they have an awesome outdoor space that I imagine would be nice to sit outside and have a drink... it's just right now the 40 degree weather the idea didn't entertain me.
Since we finished with dinner sooner than we thought we walked across the street to Fullsteam Brewery.  We have been to several breweries and I have to say this one has the best vibe to visit!  They have one room where the bar is and the a huge open room with lots of tables to gathering.  When we walked in they had a band playing, it was about 8ish and it was pretty packed in there.  The building appears to have been drastically renovated but still made to look like an old warehouse, it had it's own style which created a fun atmosphere.  They had a great selection of beers too, so we'll probably go back the first Sunday in February to go on their tour so we can try more.
Motorco was probably the weirdest music hall I have ever been to.... you can tell it used to be an old warehouse (which is cool) but it doesn't appear they did too much to the place.  There are two rooms where one room is slightly larger than the other.  There was only one show that night so they had it in the smaller back room.  I understand why they have most of their shows in the back room, so they can still operate a regular bar in the front room and separate the people who paid for the show in the back room.  The opening act, Crystal Bright & The Silver Hands, was a local band from Greensboro.  I really enjoyed them but after checking out their website they appear much more artsy/gypsy/folk/burlesque than the show Friday.
 Homemade Pimento Cheese
Braised Beef over a Saffron Risotto Cake with Arugula (mmm)
Fullsteam's menu.  I had El Toro and T got Hogwash.
In the other room of the brewery - There was a string band teaching people how to line dance.
 Motorco.  In between bands.
I like that he brings his own mic.
Dirty River Bourbon Show.  Good show.
