New Years Resolutions

This year I want to set goals instead of saying I would like to... blah blah blah.  Whats the difference?  We'll I (hope) that if I tell myself that I am going to do something that I will stick to it.  I only want to make 5, so i have narrowed it down to these that I feel are at the top of my list.
  1. Get back on track with my weight.  In the previous two years I had everything under control with exercise and eating but with this past year I haven't maintained my weight.  I know that 80% of it is diet and I just have to start putting my mind to more healthy choices.  T and I joined a gym together now so I hope we can start going more regularly, it also helps that two of my girlfriends are members too.  The hard part for me is after working the last thing I want to do is go spend my night at the gym...I need to work on that.
  2. Start saving more.  This year T and I have been faced with some expensive unexpected things; dental work, car expenses, stuff for the house, and gas.  I hope to put extra money aside each time we get paid for those emergency situations.  I already put "x" amount into our savings account each time we get paid, and I think upping that amount my be the best way to automatically save more right off the top (that way I don't see it in the checking account).  I also want to work on planning meals more so we don't come home with no plan and go pick something up fast.  There are millions of ways to save - but I think those two would help us the most without going without anything.  *I have to say since we bought our house we have been doing MUCH better with our money so hopefully this will only improve the upcoming year*
  3. Maintaining the house.  This is vague, I know.  Let me explain, my grandparents have everything in place and always have, they have always been early on things, never let tasks build up, etc.  When my grandfather went into the hospital everything was in place and clean at their house, although, my grandmother thinks that the house is dirty because it nothing has been touched in three weeks... but there hasn't been anyone there?  So I hope to work on maintaining our house... I don't want to go to bed with dishes in the sink only to let them build more the next day, I want to work on not letting laundry build up, sorting through mail each night and tossing the junk, etc.  If there is maintenance work around the house that needs to be done (painting, caulking, organizing, cleaning) then I want to keep up on it instead of having so much hang over your head.
  4. Having patience.... I should say learning to have patience.  I get frustrated very easily.  It's a bad habit I have always had.  Sometimes I feel like when I try a project, go run errands, make a new meal.... I'm the only one that has issues.  Other times I often share words with the cars around me on interstate 40 to and from work.  Truth be told, it's life, it's not perfect and I just have to learn that I need to take a deep breath and move on.
  5. Being a better wife.  We are going on our 9th month of marriage and I feel like we are going great, although there wasn't much change since we had already lived together.  I want to be a good wife, but what exactly makes a good wife?  I would like to think being a good wife means doing things with your husband that y'all both enjoy.... so maybe we should find things that we both enjoy (other than drinking wine).  I also think that it means being supportive (which I am).  I look at other wives and think back to my mom and it seemed like they had it so much more "together" than I do.  DISCLAIMER: I do not mean I want to do everything for my husband so that he expects it of me.
So I will keep y'all updated on how I figure out how to STICK to my goals .... the good and the bad.
